In LexisNexis, the easiest way to filter and compare is to go to the company dossier page and use the "Compare Companies" and "Create a Company List" tools at the top.

Go to LexisNexis at https://lynn-lang.student.lynn.edu/login?url=http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/lnacademic/ , then click on “Get Company Info” and then the “Company Dossier” link at the bottom. Here are LexisNexis’s “How To” guides for this:

When you use “Create a Company List,” you can specify the industry type, public vs. private, location, sales revenue, number of employees, and other factors and get a list that you can then export and manipulate in various ways. As an example, I did a search for public companies, in the 541 SIC code (Grocery stores), in the United States, with revenue above $50M, then clicked “Create.” I got a list back of 21 companies. You can then sort them in various ways, by several different criteria.

With “Compare Companies,” you can do the same, but with up to 5 specific companies.

Finally, in addition to LexisNexis, we have other resources for company/industry information – many of these are listed here.
